Fostering kittens to lend a home

When my partner and I let our friends and family know we would be fostering kittens, they were naturally worried about us.

Afraid for our hearts, they feared we would become too attached and fostering would turn to adoption (which might mean we don’t want to move back to Canada).

In a way, I guess we were volunteering for unnecessary grief,  once the kittens would be adopted there’s no way we wouldn’t mourn them.

But fortunately for us (and our kittens) the fact these kittens needed a home until they were adopted won in the end. Instead of staying in a tiny cage with loud crashing and barking noises all around them, we can give them space to run around, cuddles and attention. To not offer them–even a temporary home–made us feel insular.

So we called up the Save-a-dog Scheme (who also rescues cats) and volunteered to become Foster Parents.

Here is a pictorial summary of our first experience with fostering kittens:

But can you afford to foster kittens?
