97% of the population wants to write a novel
I’m just like everybody else…probably every person believes they have a novel inside of them–and if they don’t feel destined to write a novel, they feel destined to write a book. Or, they get someone else to write their book for them.
That’s probably why we have so many books in the world. I have, at many times in my life, been an avid reader. And there are really great books out there, but I’ve found in my book club, there are so many books out there getting publicity that really great books are pretty rare.
Anyway, I’m one of the 97%, what can I say? I want to write a book. I want to write a really great novel. A novel with legs: longevity, and an ability to make people laugh, cry, and think about worrisome social issues such that we learn to improve the world around us.
Naturally, because I have such high expectations for what my novel should do, I’m terrified of actually doing it.
But that’s why I’m writing this blog. I’m trying to feel the fear and do it anyway.
So here we go, this post marks the first of many in my plight to write a novel, which even I will enjoy.
Our last great book club book was “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin”. We read it 6 months ago!
Yep I have often thought of writing a novel in my past. Even have jotted notes on what it would be about into exercise books. Wow 97% of us have felt this! I am blogging now to curb the novel idea which is far less overwhelming and something I feel I can manage.
